Professional Tour Guide Training Program – Track I. 

The Professional Tour Guide Training Program Track I WashingTours & Events trains future tour leaders to deliver an outstanding experience to all Washington, D.C. visitors. Local guides and hosts are integral to creating a quality, lasting impression of our fascinating city and a positive memory of client events.

Future tour leaders will dedicate 35 hours to an interactive, field-based program covering site interpretation and story-telling, site logistics, group presentation and group management skills. Future tour leaders receive focused training in:

• Research, scripting, delivery, and self assessment
• Intercultural methods of communication
• Safety and emergency procedures
• Walking tour techniques

Track I classes are ongoing.

Professional Tour Guide Training Program – Track II. 

The Professional Tour Guide Training Program Track II WashingTours & Events trains future tour leaders to deliver an outstanding experience to all Washington, D.C. visitors. Local guides and hosts are integral to creating a quality, lasting impression of our fascinating city and a positive memory of client events.

Expanding on Track I, future tour leaders will dedicate more than 50 hours to an interactive, field-based program covering motor vehicle touring techniques, site interpretation, site logistics, navigation skills, and group management skills. Future tour leaders receive focused training in:

• Cultural Competence
• Guiding skills on a moving vehicle
• Itinerary Planning and Navigation skills
• Motor coach and microphone techniques
• Group management techniques
• Emergency preparedness
Tour leaders enrolled in Track II will have access to study groups outside of class hours in preparation for the Washington, D.C. License Exam.

Track II classes are ongoing.
