Founded and led by Maricar Donato, an accredited trainer for tourist guides by the World Federation of Tourist Guides Association (WFTGA), Maricar’s WashingTours & Events is a professional tour guiding, training, and event management company based in one of the most culturally diverse cities in America, Washington, D.C.
With over thirty years of combined experience in tourism, tour guide training, and special event planning, WashingTours & Events:
- Directs multilingual cultural and themed tours in English, Spanish, Italian, and French (fluent); German (conversational); and Tagalog and Ilocano (native)
- Offers full-day and half-day seminars and workshops on cultural diversity and competency, tour guiding interpretive techniques and business skills for guiding, and event management and leadership that are held throughout the world at leading hospitality and tourism colleges, and
- Is renowned for its professional tour guide training for aspiring, new, and seasoned guides, up-leveling their skills with interpretive techniques, Top Visual Points (TVPs), and use of smartphone technology in providing feedback, developing content, and engaging tour participants of all ages.
WashingTours & Events also provides a supplemental study guide and two-hour study sessions for tour guides choosing to specialize in Washington, DC area history and attractions.
